Welcome!
Thank you for joining the Migration & Identity in the South Downs Photography Project.
We are starting off with our first walk on Saturday November the 12th. We will meet at 11 am at the Seven Sister’s Visitor Centre and follow an easy trail down to the beach and the mouth of the Cuckmere. This first walk will be an opportunity to meet, to walk and take photographs together and to take in this very beautiful part of the coastline. The walk will take about two hours and I’ll be delighted if you can join me for a coffee and a chat at the Visitor’s Centre cafe afterwards.
Getting there
Seven Sisters Country Park is situated at Exceat, near Seaford, East Sussex, BN25 4AD.
The Park is well served by the 12, 12A and 12X buses from Brighton, Seaford and Eastbourne. All buses stop at the Park entrance.
There are two car parks on site which are open 7am until 6pm between November and March. The charges for cars are £3.00 for up to 2 hours or £4.00 for the day. The pay machines take cards and coins but not notes.
Meeting & contact information
We will meet at 11am at the Seven Sister’s Visitor’s Centre. If you have any trouble finding me, please call or text me, my phone number is 074 7940 3354.
Weather and Health & Safety
On Saturday we will be taking the Easy Access Trail which follows the valley floor down to the shingle beach and the mouth of the River Cuckmere which is approximately 2km (4km return). We will explore the beach and the coastline and come back by the same route to the Visitor’s Centre.
The route is paved and is very accessible but the shingle beach will be less solid underfoot. I would suggest warm clothes, a waterproof jacket or coat and footwear suitable for walking. A bottle of water is also a good idea.
After the torrents of the past week, the forecast for Saturday looks pretty good, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze! Let’s keep our fingers crossed it stays that way.
Consent Forms
You should now have received a Participant Information Sheet and a Consent Form. If you could read, sign and return this form to me on Saturday that would be great. If you have any questions or points that need clarification before you sign it, please contact me. If it’s difficult for you to print and scan, please let me know and I will bring printed copies with me on Saturday.
